Honestly, how many times do you hit the snooze button in the morning? I hit it at least two times every morning. In the winter, maybe three times. I don't have a choice though, I have to get out of bed and make sure the gym is open by 6 a.m. There is a faithful crew of people who workout in the early morning. Some people might think it is crazy, but maybe they know something that others don't.Fact: Whether you burn 500 calories at 6 a.m. or at 6 p.m., it is still 500 calories. So you ask, what does it matter if you workout in the a.m. or p.m.? Here are four reasons why you may benefit from a morning workout. Consistency We all plan to go to the gym after work or after dinner, but what happens when the boss needs you to work late or the kids need help with their homework? Your workout suffers. If you set aside time to exercise first thing in the morning, there is less chance for distraction. It is also one less thing to do after work or school. This means you are more likely to exercise on a regular basis.
Metabolism Boost Want to see benefits all day long? Exercising in the morning has been proven to help you burn more calories throughout the whole day. More calories burned = BETTER RESULTS!
Healthy Routine Your body naturally wants to be on a set routine. Waking up at the same time every morning helps your body to regulate many different functions for optimal performance all day long. As you start to incorporate morning exercise into your daily lifestyle, you will find that your body will adapt to waking up early and eventually you might not need an alarm clock.
Get Smarter Do you have a big meeting or an exam that has you feeling nervous? Morning exercise gets the blood flowing to your brain. This will circulate nutrients and oxygen-rich blood to your various organs. More oxygen to your brain gives you a mental boost. This will help you stay focused all day long.
So, the next time that alarm goes off, remember these four reasons you might want to get out of bed and head to Fusion - I'll make sure the doors are open. Copyright 2007 Fusion Fitness Center, Inc.
